Fiji: Port Denarau to Port Denarau through the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands

Cruise west from Port Denarau towards Malolo, entering the Mamanuca Islands and leaving the coastline of Viti Levu behind. The relatively short passage allows plenty of time to settle into the cruising rhythm while enjoying the sheltered waters and reef-fringed scenery of the island group.

Spend the afternoon swimming, snorkelling, paddleboarding or exploring the surrounding coastline by tender. Anchorage selection will depend on local reef configuration, wind direction and vessel draught, with the yacht positioned in suitable waters while guests explore smaller bays by tender where required.

Continue north through the Mamanuca Islands towards Monuriki, where smaller islands, beaches and surrounding reef systems create a more secluded cruising environment. The passage moves the yacht away from the more developed parts of western Fiji and towards quieter island anchorages.

Spend the day using the yacht’s tenders and watersports equipment, with opportunities for snorkelling, swimming and beach visits depending on tide and reef conditions. The captain can select an appropriate nearby anchorage for the evening based on wind and sea state.

Cruise north towards Navadra, continuing into a more remote section of the itinerary between the Mamanuca and Yasawa island groups. The surrounding waters offer a quieter setting with fewer shoreside facilities and greater emphasis on time spent onboard and around the yacht.

Use the afternoon for swimming, kayaking, snorkelling or tender exploration along the shoreline. With reefs influencing access around the island, the captain will select an anchorage according to depth, wind direction, coral formations and the yacht’s operational requirements.

Continue north into the Yasawa Islands, cruising towards Drawaqa Island and its surrounding reef environments. This section of the route introduces a more rugged landscape, with mountainous islands, narrow channels and quieter anchorages spread along the island chain.

Spend the afternoon snorkelling, swimming or exploring by tender. Seasonal manta-ray encounters may occur in channels around this part of the Yasawas during the cooler months, although wildlife sightings depend entirely on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

Begin the southbound return through the Yasawa Islands towards Waya Island, where steep volcanic landscapes provide a different setting from the lower islands of the Mamanuca group. The passage can be broken up with a swim or snorkelling stop if weather and timing allow.

Spend the afternoon exploring the coastline by tender, relaxing on a beach or going ashore where local access has been arranged. A village visit may also be incorporated with prior coordination, with local customs and cultural protocols observed when entering community areas.

Depart Waya early for the final southbound passage towards Port Denarau, travelling through western Fiji and passing back towards the Mamanuca Islands. Depending on weather, departure timing and guest arrangements, the yacht can pause along the route for a final swim or lunch at anchor.

Continue towards Viti Levu and return to Port Denarau Marina for disembarkation. The final passage completes a seven-day charter combining the more accessible Mamanuca Islands with the quieter anchorages, reefs and mountainous landscapes of the Yasawas.
