French Polynesia: Raiatea to Bora Bora through Huahine and Taha’a

Depart Raiatea for the open-water passage towards Huahine, cruising east across the channel before entering the island’s reef-protected lagoon through a suitable pass. Huahine offers a quieter setting than some of the better-known Society Islands, with lush landscapes, sheltered bays and a strong connection to Polynesian history and culture.

Spend the afternoon swimming, snorkelling, kayaking or exploring the shoreline by tender. Depending on arrival time and local conditions, guests may also go ashore for a short visit before returning to the yacht for the evening.

Remain around Huahine for a second day, allowing more time to explore the island without another major passage. The yacht can reposition within the lagoon according to wind, water depth and guest preferences, creating a more relaxed day centred around both land and water activities.

Guests can visit archaeological and cultural sites ashore, explore the island by vehicle or remain on the water for snorkelling, swimming and tender cruising. Lunch can be served onboard at anchor before an afternoon in another suitable part of the lagoon.

Depart Huahine and cruise west towards Taha’a, returning to the shared Raiatea–Taha’a lagoon. Once inside the reef, the yacht can reposition close to one of the island’s motu, bays or coral areas depending on conditions and vessel size.

Spend the afternoon swimming, snorkelling or exploring by tender before settling into a sheltered anchorage for the evening. Taha’a is known for its vanilla production, quiet shoreline and extensive lagoon, making it well suited to a slower-paced cruising day.

Remain around Taha’a for a full day, using the shared lagoon for a combination of watersports and shore-based experiences. Guests can visit a vanilla plantation or pearl farm, or spend the morning exploring the surrounding motu and coral gardens by tender.

The afternoon can focus on snorkelling, paddleboarding or swimming in sheltered lagoon waters. The yacht may reposition according to wind direction and guest preferences, allowing a different anchorage or outlook for the second night around the island.

Depart Taha’a after breakfast for the open-water passage towards Bora Bora, approaching the island’s distinctive volcanic peaks before entering the lagoon through the navigable reef pass. The arrival introduces one of the most recognisable cruising environments in French Polynesia, surrounded by reef, motu and shallow turquoise waters.

Spend the afternoon snorkelling, swimming, paddleboarding or exploring the lagoon by tender. The yacht can position at a suitable anchorage or mooring while guests visit surrounding motu or enjoy the final full afternoon of the charter on the water.

Spend the final morning within Bora Bora’s lagoon, allowing time for a last swim, snorkelling session or tender cruise before disembarkation. Depending on guest departure arrangements, the yacht may reposition within the lagoon for a final breakfast or relaxed morning at anchor.

Guests can also go ashore for a short island visit before returning to the pre-arranged disembarkation point. The final day completes a seven-day route through the Leeward Society Islands, combining open-water passages with reef-protected lagoons and island-based experiences.
