Mexico: La Paz Roundtrip through Balandra Bay and Espíritu Santo

Cruise north from La Paz towards Balandra Bay, where desert hills meet shallow turquoise water and sheltered coastal scenery. The relatively short passage leaves most of the day available for exploring the surrounding shoreline and enjoying the water.

Spend the afternoon swimming, paddleboarding or exploring by tender, subject to protected-area regulations and suitable yacht positioning. The captain will select the most appropriate anchorage or nearby holding position according to wind, depth and vessel size.

Cruise across to Espíritu Santo Island, one of the principal marine destinations within the La Paz region. The island combines rugged desert landscapes, clear bays and reef environments, creating a more remote cruising setting away from the mainland.

Spend the afternoon kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling or visiting a beach by tender. The yacht can remain within a captain-approved anchorage while guests explore nearby bays, with all activities planned around weather, environmental restrictions and local access requirements.

Continue north through the Espíritu Santo and Partida island area towards Los Islotes, where the rocky outcrops support a resident sea lion colony. The morning can focus on snorkelling, diving or wildlife observation where current regulations and natural conditions allow.

After exploring the area, reposition towards a sheltered bay for lunch, swimming or kayaking. Wildlife encounters are seasonal and cannot be guaranteed, so the captain and crew can adapt the day around conditions and permitted activities.

Begin the southbound passage back towards La Paz, travelling through the island and coastal waters of the southern Sea of Cortez. Depending on timing, weather and guest departure arrangements, the yacht can pause for a final swim or relaxed breakfast at anchor before continuing towards the mainland.

Return to the marina for disembarkation, with time ashore along the La Paz waterfront possible where schedules allow. The final passage completes a five-day route combining desert coastlines, island anchorages, protected marine environments and the waters surrounding Espíritu Santo.
