USA: Miami to Key West through Key Largo, Islamorada and Marathon

Cruise south from Miami towards Key Largo, entering the northern section of the Florida Keys. The surrounding waters include protected reef environments and shallow coastal areas, requiring careful route planning according to yacht draught and local navigation conditions.

Spend the afternoon swimming, snorkelling or exploring by tender at a captain-approved location. Reef access and yacht positioning should be planned around sanctuary rules, vessel size and suitable mooring, anchoring or marina arrangements.

Continue south through the Upper Keys towards Islamorada, following a relatively short passage that leaves more time for activities on the water. The surrounding area provides access to coral reefs, mangrove environments and shallow island waters.

Spend the afternoon snorkelling, diving, paddleboarding or tender cruising where conditions and regulations permit. Guests can also go ashore to explore the local waterfront before returning to the yacht for dinner at anchor or in a suitable marina.

Depart Islamorada for Marathon, travelling farther south into the Middle Keys. The passage can include a morning swim or reef stop where conditions allow before continuing towards the island community.

Spend the afternoon exploring ashore or remain on the water for snorkelling, swimming and watersports. Nearby reef areas may be incorporated into the day according to weather, sanctuary rules and the yacht’s operating requirements.

Cruise southwest from Marathon into the Lower Keys, where the route becomes quieter and less developed than the Upper and Middle Keys. The captain can select a suitable anchorage or berth based on wind, sea state, water depth and vessel draught.

Use the afternoon for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking or tender exploration around the surrounding islands. The slower pace provides a relaxed final night before continuing towards Key West the following morning.

Complete the final passage towards Key West, approaching the southern end of the Florida Keys and the island’s historic waterfront. Depending on timing and conditions, the yacht may pause for a final swim or relaxed morning on the water before entering the harbour area.
