Why Charter the Caribbean
- Extensive Island Network
- Reliable Cruising Conditions
- Established Charter Hubs
- Short Island Passages
- Diverse Port Culture
- Flexible Itineraries
The Caribbean combines closely spaced island groups with established superyacht ports, protected anchorages and longer open-water passages.
The Caribbean is suited to superyacht cruising because it offers several distinct island groups within an established seasonal charter market. The Virgin Islands support shorter passages between anchorages, while the Leeward and Windward Islands provide longer routes between independent countries and territories. The Grenadines combine relatively close island passages with remote anchorages and protected marine areas.
Charter Region
The Caribbean should be divided into defined cruising areas rather than treated as one continuous destination. The principal Eastern Caribbean cruising grounds include the Virgin Islands, the Leeward Islands, the Windward Islands and the Grenadines. The Virgin Islands provide relatively short distances between many islands and anchorages. Routes through the Leeward and Windward Islands involve longer exposed passages and more frequent international clearances. The Grenadines have limited large-yacht berthing outside the main service centres, making anchorage planning, tender operations and onboard self-sufficiency more important. Marine infrastructure is concentrated in locations such as St Thomas, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia and Grenada. Berth availability can be restricted during Christmas, New Year and major regattas. A one-week charter should normally focus on one island group rather than attempting to cover a large section of the Eastern Caribbean.
The Caribbean brings together iconic islands, warm-water cruising, and distinct local cultures for a charter experience that feels effortless yet endlessly varied.
From the British Virgin Islands to St. Barts and the Grenadines, the Caribbean offers sheltered anchorages, lively harbours, celebrated cuisine, and easy passages between islands with their own distinct character.
Each country offers its own distinctive character, shaped by a unique blend of culture, landscapes, history, and life by the sea.
