St. Vincent & the Grenadines: St. Vincent to Union Island through the Grenadines

Cross the Bequia Channel toward Admiralty Bay on a short first passage. The open-water crossing gives guests an immediate sense of the Grenadines while remaining brief enough to leave most of the day available after arrival.

Anchor or take a mooring near Port Elizabeth and head ashore to explore the waterfront, small shops and restaurants around the bay. Bequia has a longstanding maritime character and is one of the main inhabited yacht stops along the Grenadines chain.

Continue southeast from Bequia toward Mustique, keeping the second cruising leg short and straightforward. The approach into Britannia Bay positions the yacht along the island’s principal yachting area without adding unnecessary mileage.

Pick up an available mooring and spend the afternoon ashore, exploring the island or stopping around Britannia Bay. Mustique lies about 17 miles south of St. Vincent and maintains its main yacht moorings in this part of the island.

Leave Mustique and continue south to Canouan on one of the longer passages of the week. At roughly fourteen nautical miles, the leg remains comfortable while moving the yacht into the central Grenadines and closer to the Tobago Cays.

Arrive around Charlestown Bay or another suitable anchorage and spend the remainder of the afternoon swimming or exploring ashore. Canouan sits near the centre of the Grenadines cruising area, north of Mayreau and the Tobago Cays, making it a natural staging point for the following day.

Cruise the short distance from Canouan into the Tobago Cays Marine Park. With very little mileage required, the yacht can arrive early and dedicate most of the day to the anchorage rather than spending valuable charter time underway.

The Tobago Cays consist of five uninhabited islets surrounded by extensive reef systems and are one of the central yachting stops in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Spend the day snorkelling, swimming, using the yacht’s water toys or moving between designated areas according to current marine-park rules.

Leave the Tobago Cays for the very short run toward Mayreau. Because the islands sit close together, this day functions almost as an extension of the previous anchorage while giving guests a completely different setting for the evening.

Anchor around Salt Whistle Bay or another suitable location and spend the afternoon ashore. Mayreau is the smallest inhabited island in the Grenadines chain and provides a quieter stop before the yacht moves toward Union Island for the final day.

Complete the itinerary with a short southbound passage to Union Island. There is no need for an early start, allowing time for breakfast, a morning swim or another few hours around Mayreau before heading toward Clifton Harbour.

Arrive at Union Island for the final yacht procedures and disembarkation. Clifton is an established yachting harbour and one of the listed service points for visiting yachts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, making it a practical southern endpoint rather than forcing a long return north to St. Vincent.
