Italy: Naples to Salerno through the Gulf of Naples and Amalfi Coast

Leave Naples and cross the gulf toward Procida, the smallest of the main islands visited on this itinerary. The relatively short opening passage allows guests to settle into the pace of the charter while still arriving early enough to spend most of the day around the island.

Go ashore around Marina Grande before exploring areas such as Marina Corricella and Terra Murata, or remain aboard and move to a suitable anchorage for the afternoon. Procida’s historic villages, harbour and fishing traditions distinguish it from the larger neighbouring islands.

Cruise west from Procida to neighbouring Ischia on the shortest passage of the week. The limited distance allows the yacht to arrive early and leaves almost the entire day open for exploring ashore, using the water toys or moving between bays depending on conditions.

Ischia is the largest of the islands in the Gulf of Naples and is particularly associated with its volcanic landscape and thermal springs. Guests can spend the afternoon near one of the coastal towns or visit a thermal area before returning aboard for the evening.

Depart Ischia and cruise southeast across the Gulf of Naples toward Capri. This open-water crossing is one of the longer island passages of the route but remains easily manageable within a seven-day charter and avoids unnecessary backtracking later in the itinerary.

Approach Capri with time to cruise around part of the coastline before securing an appropriate berth or anchorage. Guests can head ashore toward Capri Town and the Piazzetta or spend the afternoon closer to the coast, with the Faraglioni forming one of the island’s best-known landmarks.

Leave Capri and cross toward the mainland, rounding the Sorrento Peninsula before approaching Positano from the sea. The relatively short distance provides flexibility for a morning anchorage around Capri or a swim stop before continuing to the Amalfi Coast.

Anchor offshore where conditions and local regulations permit, then use the tender to reach Positano. The town rises steeply from the shoreline, with Marina Grande providing the principal seaside arrival point and access into its streets, restaurants and shops.

Cruise east from Positano along the Amalfi Coast on a deliberately short passage. Rather than rushing past the coastline, the limited mileage allows the yacht to stop along the way and gives guests most of the day to enjoy the area from the water.

Arrive in Amalfi during the afternoon and head ashore to explore the historic centre and waterfront. Keeping this leg short also gives the captain greater flexibility around berth availability, coastal traffic and local anchoring restrictions during the busier summer period.

Depart Amalfi and continue east toward Salerno for the final passage of the charter. The short distance makes the last day intentionally relaxed, leaving time for breakfast at anchor or a final stop along the coast before entering the Gulf of Salerno.

Arrive at the marina for disembarkation, completing a route that progresses naturally from the islands of the Gulf of Naples to the Amalfi Coast without requiring a long return journey to the original embarkation port.
