The most appropriate locations will depend on wind direction, swell, yacht draft, local traffic and tender capability. Bodrum is known for its maritime history, two-harbour setting and position as an established yacht centre on Turkey’s Aegean coast. Shore access is available through the central harbour and surrounding marina facilities. Bodrum Castle was built during the 15th century and now houses the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. Its collections include material recovered from shipwrecks in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean. Guests can continue to the remains of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, or visit the ancient theatre above the town. Markets, waterfront precincts and established shopping areas are also accessible from the harbour. Bodrum can be used as the embarkation point for routes through the Gulf of Gökova or west towards the Datça Peninsula. Berths, museum opening arrangements and shore transport should be confirmed in advance during July, August and major local events.
